On Tuesday 21 February 2023 it was announced to the Connect Church family that, following a period of prayerful and considered discernment by our leadership team, we are now pursuing the planting of a new location in Brigg, North Lincolnshire.
Since Connect Church was founded in October 2020 with two locations (Ashby Road and Crosby), it has always been our expectation that more locations would be established, so we are excited to see this next stage of our journey emerging.
To be as clear as possible, this decision has been made at the end of a discernment process, but that does not mean that as yet we are close to launching anything ‘tangible’, or even that clear plans have been made.
Moving forward now there will be a lot of work to prayerfully discover what this new location will look like, to develop the right team and plan to move us into that direction, and then of course to actually deliver what will be known as Connect Church Brigg.
Our discernment process to this point has included conversations with two important groups of people. Firstly, we have been talking and praying with the leaders of our current Connect Groups in the Brigg area, which has been really exciting, and they have faithfully agreed to play their part in this next phase of the process for Connect Church Brigg.
And secondly, we have been in discussions and open dialogue with other churches and leaders in our area, and in particular those already serving in Brigg, which again have been really positive and encouraging.
Throughout these conversations we have been crystal clear that we want only to compliment and contribute to the great things already happening in Brigg; we know that Connect Church is not ‘the answer’, but we do humbly believe that there is space for us to make a difference and to serve His kingdom purposes in the Brigg area.
Moving forward we are fully committed to being as open and transparent as possible, as details begin to develop in the coming weeks and months with regard to the specifics of what, when and where Connect Church Brigg will be launching.
